Dear Supporters,

Empower Yolo is excited to announce that our shelter kitchen remodeling project is finally underway. Construction commenced this week on this long awaited renovation. The current kitchen at the Wallace and Vannucci shelter is over 20 years old and has not been updated since it was built. It does not provide adequate space or storage for the many families using it; the space is cramped, cabinets are worn out, and appliances are old and in constant need of repair.

The finished facility will dramatically improve our ability to support individuals and families who come to us at the most difficult times of their lives. Our residents will know that this new kitchen was built with them in mind, a clean and comfortable place to prepare food and share meals with their families providing comfort and healing for all survivors and their children.

This project would not be possible without the help and support of our generous donors and community members. We would like to thank the Julia Burke Foundation for helping us reach our goal to begin the project. The generosity of all of our amazing funders will help transform lives impacted by family violence, and your support has made this wonderful project possible.

We will keep you posted on the progress of the shelter kitchen remodel and we look forward to sharing with you the finished project. A heartfelt thank you from all of us at Empower Yolo. Please stay connected with us at empoweryolo.org.
