Confidential Counseling
Empower Yolo offers free confidential counseling services to adult and children survivors of abuse and their family members.
Individual Counseling
Empower Yolo provides free and confidential counseling to adults who have been victimized by domestic violence, sexual assault or trafficking . *Violence does not have to be recent to receive counseling services. Counseling is also available to family members who are dealing with their own feelings around the abuse of someone they love.
Child Abuse Treatment Program
Empower Yolo provides counseling services for children who have been victimized by violence, sexual abuse, neglect, school or community violence, parental substance abuse, who have witnessed violence in their home, or have experienced any other child maltreatment.
To request more information or to register for counseling in Woodland please visit us during business hours at the main office, 175 Walnut Street, Woodland, or call 530-661-6336. When calling, please specify what type of counseling you are interested in (individual or group counseling for an adult or therapy for a child).
Domestic Violence Support Groups
Empower Yolo offers support groups for adults who have experienced domestic violence as a child or adult. *Registration is required for Individual Counseling and Support Groups. It is an 8-topic course that goes over topics related to domestic violence such as the cycle of violence, why people stay in abusive relationships, and how domestic violence affects children. It is a rolling enrollment; clients can start at any time during the cycle of the curriculum. The domestic violence support group is an 18+ age group.

Peer Counselor Training
Our Summer 2025 Peer Counselor Training (PCT) will be a 5-week hybrid training with virtual and in-person presentations, as well as weekly asynchronous assignments.
The training will be virtual on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30PM-10:00 PM, and in-person on Saturdays from 8:30 AM-4:30 PM at our Woodland office.
June 14th, 17th, 18th (Wednesday), 21st, 24th, 26th, 28th
July 1st, 3rd, 5th, 8th, 10th, 12th, 15th, 17th, 19th. All training dates are subject to change.
Application Process:
Submit your completed application and resume to the Volunteer Coordinator at [email protected]. Applications submitted without a resume will be considered incomplete.
If your application is accepted, you will be invited to attend a group interview and orientation. An invitation to the training program will only be issued after a successful interview. Please note that space is limited, and spots are not guaranteed.
